Are you stuck with Photoshop for Second Life

It's been a long time since I have posted, I guess I dont get onto second life much these days. My RL partner and I split up and our business arrangement in Second Life just made it far too difficult.

I was struggling with making a card for a friend's birthday and while surfing the web for help I happen to fall across this website SL Texture Tutorials.

SL Texture Tutorials has heaps of vidoes and not only did I learn loads about Photoshop, I was able to quickly make a really fantastic Birthday Card Texture for my best friend in Second Life.

Pop on over to the site and check it out, it has been created by another second life resident so they are really aimed at texturing for second life. I spent a long time trying to find easy to follow tutorials and I am happy to say this is perfect.

Flying Carpets

Today I wanted to do a flying carpet class in SL but I was told it was not for a newbie.

What a shame I am sure it would have been lots of funny flying around SL.

Still there is heaps to learn. I will take a couple more classes to get a little more experienced and then I can create my own flying carpet.

What I did Today in Second Life

OK - today I decided to do some more learning. I attended 4 classes. After the two I attended yesterday I realised I needed way more experience in Second Life.

Yesterday I started a class about building. Even though it said it was for beginners he forgot to mentioned that you had to know the "build" button.

Lucky for me that at the end of the class did anyone have any problems for which I answered yes "I am the class dummy". Now I wouldn't consider myself a dummy when it comes to computers but I had no idea what he was talking about.

He kept telling me to do something but it wasn't happening... needless to say that I did complete the assignment. I am sure he was frustrated with me :-)

I then went onto another class which was about prims and .... yes I actually wasn't the class dummy this time.

I had loads of fun - sent my cyclinder to cyberspace. This morning when I turned on the PC - I had a message that I had a returned item.... wow they don't let you get away with anything.

Anyway I took a couple of photos and I will post these into my blog

Clothing in Second Life

Being up to date with the latest fashion in SL is the first thing that you need to sort out.

Now there is loads of places to get "freebies" and I will write about that later but I came across this great blog and I just had to include a link just in case you are like me and want to learn more.

Here is an excellent resource Natalie's Blog.

Natalie's has included tutorials for loads of clothing and in fact she is running her own classes in SL for shoes.

My Secret Second Life

Last week I joined Second Life. I had heard several people speaking about it that I thought it was time to "join in".

After joining through the initial sign up you get to choose a SL name. I chose Dana Haller as it was close to my real name.

Next you decide on what you are going to look like - I choose a female avatar.

Then you are transported to "Orientation Island".
